Hoodies and Hoses

The recent stretch of cool and dry weather had the turfgrass looking stressed and in need of some
liquid gold. Fortunately, we hit the pop-up shower jackpot last week and the playing surfaces
have responded favorably. The cool and unsettled weather this week will give the staff a
welcome respite to put away our hoses so we can focus on other maintenance duties.

The golf course is in great shape apart from the 5th green. The green suffered a setback during a
hot and dry stretch in April. The green has been aggressively spiked and seeded. The seedlings
have emerged, and the turf is slowly knitting back together. I feel that within a few weeks, I can
comfortably lower the height of the cut to match the speed of the rest of the greens. Thanks for
your understanding and your patience.

Our native areas are a continuous work in progress. My goal, through a combination of cultural
and physical practices, is to improve the aesthetics and playability of our native areas. The
meadow on the 2/3 rd hole is a good example. We have finished our work on the 5/6 th meadow
and it is starting to grow back in so please refrain from taking your carts through these areas.

The staff and I are proud of the product we have put forth so far this season and we appreciate all
the positive feedback from all of you. We are all looking forward to the summer season. See you
out in the fairways!
