It has been a challenging summer to maintain short mown turfgrass with the high heat and humidity. Up to this point the property is faring well with some timely rain events. It is hard to believe that Labor Day is in the not-too-distant future.

Excessive soil moisture and high humidity have a considerable influence on green speeds. This article from the USGA Green Section explains how weather and time of year impact green speed. Please take a moment to read this article. https://www.usga.org/course-care/forethegolfer/why-can-t-green-speeds-remain-constant-.html
The construction of the new Turf Care facility is nearing completion, and we expect our final inspection for occupancy very soon. The staff and I are excited to be back in our building and return to our normal work routines.

The third green has been open for a few weeks now. It will perform much differently than the rest of the greens as it is being managed for plant health rather than faster ball roll. As it evolves over time the speed will improve and behave like the other greens. The off-color areas on the green are where the mower reels are scalping the crown of the plant. We will continue frequent and light applications of sand to help protect the crown and minimize scalping.

Golf etiquette is an important aspect of the game in golf. Please fix your ball marks on the greens. If you are unsure about how to fix your ball marks, please ask the professional golf staff or watch this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dh4lgoUSFZY Also, please note that bunker rakes are to be placed inside, on the floor of the bunker.
